Raptor Feathers Muvieri in shamanic prayer arrows

RAPTOR FEATHERS MUVIERI

Raptors, for Huichols as for many Indigenous peoples, are sacred birds who act as messengers between mankind and the spirit world. Their feathers are frequently used in ceremonies. A gringo marakame (shaman) wears hawk feathers on his hat while he prays to Spirit using his muvieri (prayer arrows) and the tail of Kayumari, the Deer Spirit. He also carries a God's eye that will be offered to the Gods at a sacred pilgrimage site.
