DOÑA MANUELA

Doña Manuela, Huichol elder and Mi Abuela's younger sister, wears paint made from ground oosha root and water at the end of the yearly pilgrimage. A fellow pilgrim has painted the morning star that guided them during their arduous journey on each of her cheek bones.
